The next Miss America won't hear a familiar refrain when she's crowned in Atlantic City, N.J., in September.
The song, "Miss America," which starts with the words, "There she is, Miss America," will not be part of the pageant.
Miss American Organization Vice President Sharon Pearce tells The Press of Atlantic City ( bit.ly/10okWTN ) that the tune, which was first played in 1955, is no longer included. She says no decision has been made on a final song.
The song was replaced by instrumental music at the 2013 pageant in January after the widow of the songwriter filed a licensing lawsuit in federal court in California in 2012. The complaint was dismissed in December following a confidential settlement.
The song wasn't used for three years in the 1980s after a contract dispute.
"Leadership: The art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it." - Dwight D. Eisenhower
The leading contender this year for the title of Miss New Mexico, resigned her crown immediately after receiving a dwi. If you are going to be selfish enough to keep your crown, why not fade into the background instead of parading all over town, oh wait its because your director is as selfish as you are and has you on a leash dragging you to every event possible trying to make you and herself look better. She and her director both need to go bye bye
I am so excited to announce our dates for the 2014 pageant will be April 11-13 at Maumelle High School. Looking forward to a wonderful year with my new titleholders and seeing everyone at our upcoming events. For more information go to www.arkansaspageants.com

So Miss Drunk of A gets her trial pushed back, and it is scheduled for the first day of preliminary competition July 17th! Isn't it time to be responsible and relinquish the crown like you should have done months ago?? Time to face the consequences of your actions, diabetes does not make you blow almost double the legal limit! Chemistry 101!
